Budding yeast mitochondria are a genetically tractable, ethical, cost-effective stand-in for mitochondrial biology. Their function and protein composition are conserved enough that yeast work has shaped our understanding of mitochondria across eukaryotes.

We're upfront about what cryopreservation does. Our aliquots are built for the many applications where frozen material excels — proteomics and metabolomics, antibody and Western validation, complex-activity and biochemical assays, membrane and apoptosis studies — rather than tightly-coupled respirometry, which still calls for a fresh prep.

Trust in a reagent comes from data. We characterize purity by Western blot, quantify protein by BCA, and test post-thaw integrity against fresh controls — and we publish what we find.

Subcellular Products is an Oregon company founded by Andrew Senner, a computational biologist with a background in microbiology. It grew out of a simple observation: research time is lost re-isolating the same material, prep after prep, with more variability between them than anyone wants in their data.
